Black with with a bit of gold leaf in them, a pale pastachio bead started the basis for a clip on earring for Viola the queen of clip ear...rings! I just hope I can make em big enough! Then I thought now I'll polish those beads...got out the Christmas dremmel. This virgin tool got quite a work out tonight. There is still a bit of experimenting going on so I'll have to update with pictures when there is something worth while to show. As they say in the business, film at eleven!

I should have been baking up a storm for stitch n bitch...but instead here I was baking polymer beads. Yes this Wednesday is my turn to host stitch n bitch. I love stitch n bitch. One of the best things I do in the course of a week. It is something we all look forward to. After a year of watching her go into a different direction my 16 year old friend finally let me know that she had had enough. She just couldn't go another day.

I feel that I was quite lucky to have had Miss Tiffany as a feline friend for many of the most important things in my life. She was quite the kitty friend. I held her in my hand on the day she was born. At that time I had never had my own cat. I'd go to see my horses at the farm and out would come the playful kitty, a bright eyed little tabby with such a sweet personality. By the time she was about 4-5 months old her owner suggested that I had better take her home since she was always searching me out. I'd be standing there watching Melissa ride Rocket our little bay, and there would be the little tabby ... running across the yard to the track ... then before you could reach down to pick her up she'd be half way up my pant leg on her way up to my shoulder. There she would sit! Looking at rocket and then looking at me. I think she used to send mental messages...'take me home, take me home!" So I did. She adopted me! Bandit my blue eyed siberian husky wasn't impressed. But Tiffany was. She'd sit in the arm of the chair in the living room, and take a swipe at Bandit as he'd walk by. She was the boss!

She was a great kitty companion. She was always with me. When I was going though trials, she was there. She had an uncanny way of communicating. She was perceptive, and I swear that she could read my mind. I could call her quietly in my head, and she would come running.

I was very blessed to have had this precious kitty in my life. I think of her often and miss her very much. She had been holding on for as long as she could and finally we both knew when the time had come. I sadly held my kitty as she drew her last breath. Thank God we are able to gently relieve their suffering, so that they may die with their dignity intact. My friend Tiffany deserved that.

Well Miss Tiffany, you were loved by us so much, you were also a wonderful teacher of unconditional love.

Farewell Miss Tiffy you were the best!

Canadian Thanksgiving

When the weather starts to get a little crisp especially in the morning...I have to think about Thanksgiving. I love the fall. Perhaps it has to do with trying to stay young at heart.

To me the fall has always been the start of new things. School, thinking about Halloween (fun if you're a kid), groups start up again after a summer break, the leaves start to turn golden, or red...oh the smell of fall. Then there is also the long weekend that we think about all the things we are thankful for.

The crops are now in. The turkeys are in the stores waiting to be selected by mom the cook. Families are wondering what they are going to do this weekend...close the cottage, get together with the clan, clean up the yard or perhaps start a new family tradition. Maybe we are getting together with our kids and grandchildren for a nice home cooked dinner. "Don't forget to cook turnip mom, turkey dinner just isn't right without the turnip!" Peter reminds ol' Mom.

It's the time of year that we are thankful for the love in our family. Everyone is doing not too bad, we are happy that we have one another. We think about what has happened through out the past year. We are lucky to have one another.

I'm grateful for wonderful children, grand children, a good husband, great inlaws who couldn't be any nicer and terrific friends. Could I be any luckier? I don't think so.

Wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving. May the day be of special significance to you.

I also have to think of the late Sam, my father in law. The 9th would also have been your birthday. I'm sure that Sam and my mom and dad have surely met in heaven by now...they would be so happy to know that we are all ok, and that we think of you often and give thanks to you for so much. God bless you all.

I'm reminded of Thanksgiving back in 1968 when my the father of my children and I were invited to visit friends in Long Island for Thanksgiving. Well the long weekend started to approach, we loaded up our 2 year old son, and started on the 10 hour trip to Levittown. The weather was terrific, the colours were starting to turn, what a beautiful drive to see our friends. Only to arrive at 4:30 on Friday to an empty house. Not a person in sight. To make a long story short, they weren't expecting us until November you know American Thanksgiving. What did we know way back then. That slight oversight never happened again. We camped out till Janet and Larry arrived home from work. What a surprise, those cannuks sure love thanksgiving. lol Never did I ever make that mistake again.

Yes every year I think of my American friends, and think let's celebrate again in November.

Have a terrific weekend everyone.

Midge the Bear

This is Midge the Bear dark purple poncho accented with her violet hat and scarf, oh yes and her purse of course .

These minatures are a favorite of the little granddaughters. We stitch, drink coffee, solve all the problems of the world, learn new kniting techniques and have a terrific time in the name of 'sisterhood'!!! His proud parents are Steven and Joy Spaans. Steven is my nephew, my brothers son.

At first all seemed well, although the little man arrived two weeks early, he looked quite strong, nice colour, perfect in every way. But by Friday afternoon the immediate joy this little bundle had brought was wrought with anxiety. It appeared that the little one had a problem with his heart.

He was immediately taken to the NICU unit to be examined and tested by specialists. Toronto Sick Childrens hospital had been alerted and by 5:30 the transport team from Sick Kids had arrived. By 7 p.m. all had departed for Toronto to have Caleb admitted to Sick Kids for further examination and treatment.

He will be having heart surgery on Tuesday morning for correct a faulty valve. We will be thinking of you little one. May you rest well tonight. I pray to God that he will hold you in his loving arms and protect and comfort you as you go through this surgery. Please comfort his parents as they await the completion of a successful surgery for their baby son. Guide the doctors and the medical team as they perform their life saving work on Caleb. I thank you God for listening to my prayers, please give me the wisdom to help Steven and Joy through this difficult time.

If you are reading this...please take a moment to send a positive thought to this little one.

Take another moment to hug your child, read them a story...remember a magical moment you shared with your child.
Thank God for our family and friends who are there for each other.

Love, light and hope always,
Catrinka

It's About Time!

Hi everyone,

Yes it's about time I wrote another post.
Yesterday was Stitch and Bitch, and what a wonderful time was had by all.
We have a new member! Judy C will be a wonderful addition to the S&B crew!

Haylee my granddaughter asked last night ..."can I join your club Oma if I learn how to knit?" Isn't it wonderful when these precious little ones come out with such questions! Catharina Bowers ~ Spiritual Services

Spiritual Services

Pre-Marital Counselling: So much effort is placed on the planning of a perfect wedding day that the actual marriage is often not thought about until after the ‘I do’s’ are said. As much or more planning should go into the actual marriage as the wedding day it self! We invest thousands of dollars on a dream wedding, yet overlook the importance of what follows the ceremony and the honeymoon.

Pre-Marital counselling is especially important for young couples planning their first marriage. It provides the couple with a strong spiritual foundation exploring personal attitudes, values, assumptions, goals, family, feelings, as well as thinking and relating as a couple.

For those who are planning a second marriage, particularly if you are blending a family, there are new challenges as parents and newly weds. It is a good idea to attend pre-marital counselling to help you open up a dialogue concerning the really tough issues.

This four part series prepares the couple for dealing with the difficult issues that face the couple, and gives them the opportunity to answer some of the difficult questions regarding the 'expectations and responsibilities' of marriage.
Healing Circles: Healing Circles are held for women who have been victimized in the past and want to change the patterns in their behaviour. Compatible groups of women who have suffered through similar circumstances find support in one another and work through their problems in small group settings. Circles are held weekly, monthly, at the above location or in other safe locations. What is said in the circle stays in the circle.

In some of the circles we follow some of the North American aboriginal philosophies …respecting self, elders, the environment, and give thanks to the grandmothers and grandfathers of the north, south, east, and west. We allow our energies to flow like the river of life. We drum to the beat of our heart, and connect with the little girl within. Our success rate is phenomenal. Women take back their voice, their power and feel empowered with renewed self -esteem.We encourage and support women!

Rev. Bowers facilitates weekly, and monthly healing circles. During the summer months we do take a break, but continue to run circles but with reduced frequency. For the immediate future... Healing Circles are reserved for women only. Women that are suffering due to abuse (spousal, sexual, addiction, discrimination), or those who have been victimized due to incidents (employment or other circumstances in their lives) are welcome to attend and benefit tremendously from healing circles!

Spiritual Counselling: Individual private spiritual counselling is available to both men and women. Compassionate spiritual counselling dealing with today’s tough issues and helps the client regain self-esteem. Discover your purpose, start a positive journey into self discovery! Work on addiction related problems. Rev. Bowers is a strong supporter of the twelve step program. She implements a ‘straight shooter approach’ with her clients. She possesses strong inter-personal relationship skills to help the client find and deal with the root of the problem.

Weddings: Rev. Bowers is always pleased to work with couples who are planning their wedding. There are many beautiful venues in the Durham Region area that lend themselves to a traditional setting. Rev. Bowers will be able to suggest a variety of locations to you. Whether you are planning a traditional religious wedding or a simple service with a blessing she will preside over the wedding you have always dreamed off. Imagine a beautiful spiritual ceremony, with the Bride and Groom saying their own vows which they have written for each other. Rev. Bowers can make your special day a dream come true for you and your family and friends.

Renewal of Wedding Vows: Celebrate the anniversary of your marriage with the renewal of your vows! This is a special service to celebrate the love you continue to have for each other. This can be a private service, or one with the attendance of your children, family, and friends.Mark your anniversary with the renewal of your love for each other!

Baptism: Rev. Bowers will be pleased to baptise your baby, toddler or young child. There are many adults who have not been baptized. You are never too old to be baptized. The sacrament of Baptism is a most sacred event. For those who have never been baptized it is a meaningful start to a spiritual life.

For couples who have lived together without the benefit of marriage but have chosen to have children, Bowers will be honoured to baptize your baby/child into the Christian family of Jesus Christ. Your baby can be baptized at home or in a special location of your choice.

Hospital or In Home Visitations: Rev. Bowers has extensive experience in hospital chaplaincy. She has been a Chaplain since 1999. Compassionate pastoral counselling with ill or terminal patients and their families during difficult times is an honour and a privilege. She realizes that sharing intimate moments with your loved ones is a true gift. She is able to relate from personal experience how important it is that a strong family support system be in place during these stressful times. Rev. Bowers provides compassionate support during difficult times.

Funeral Service ~ Memorials ~ Celebration of Life: Celebrate the life of your loved one with dignity, respect, joy and compassion with a traditional or alternative funeral or memorial service. All services are individually prepared with special needs addressed. Full Christian or alternative ceremonies are available at the funeral home of your choice. Rev. Bowers will help plan a personal, loving, compassionate service with you during this difficult time. A Funeral or Memorial is an extraordinary time to celebrate life as well as honour the deceased and support the grieving family and friends. It also helps with the grieving process when we acknowledge the grief we feel when a family member or friends dies.

Internment of Ashes: Following the cremation we sometimes prefer to decide how we are going honour the deceased. Do we keep the urn at home or do we make other arrangements? Does your family have a plot, or do you need to make plans to bury the ashes in a location where family and friends can visit? Rev. Bowers can advise you and assist you when making internment plans.

Grief Counselling: Following the death of a loved one…Rev. Bowers is able to help those who are grieving to come to terms with the various stages of grief. You do not need to feel that you have to do this process alone. We all deal with grief differently. Rev. Bowers can help ease the physical, emotional, and spiritual pain of loss.

Acknowledging Losses in Your Life: There are many different types of loss that we as humans grieve. Sometimes we feel uneasy discussing this with friends or family members. If you are struggling with a loss in your life, ask for help. Don’t do it alone. We also grieve the loss of a relationship due to divorce. We grieve the loss of a job. Due to illness and certain types of treatment or surgery we also grieve many other losses.

~*~*~*~*~

There are standard nominal charges or honorariums for services rendered. My new poncho manequin Stella (thanks to wandaknittingmachine) was still standing in the livingroom from the previous stitch 'n bitch gathering with the sista-in-laws...well... he bent down to get the cat food out of the bin he caught a climps of Stella out of the corner of his eye. He thought there was someone standing there watching him. Way ta go Stella. Should have been a fly on the wall for that one.
Thanks for keeping his heart going. Poor guy, guess I'll have to put her away or find another good spot for her. It does the heart good to have such a good time with my husbands sibblings!!!! Yup I mean it!

After rushing back to Sunnycrest with mawpowderblue with the goodie bags in tow we crossed the finish line at 4:55 after fighting traffic lights and numerous questions about why was there so much traffic, and will I make it in time for supper?????

I then made it home in time for pottie and another deadline for a Mandarin moment with husband Bill and Scugog Island friends. Well after flying under the radar at the speed of a bullet...only to find out the the Islad friends were sick, no s*&t after all that they were sick. We headed out for a Mandarin moment anyways only to find a wall of impatient, starving maniacs at the Mandarin. I said to husband, let me out, I'll check in you park the rickshaw. I fought my way to the top of the stairs, through a wall of smoke from filled up first shift eaters to be spun through the revolving door like a bat out of hell. Some BIG guy with a walker with square wheels, repeatedly pushed his walker over my starving foot back and forth like he really want to make sure that he was ahead of me even though he drove up the rear as a spin thru the door...pushing little old me with my new phat butt into a hooked nosed lady ahead of me (related to tammyfaybaker)...who quickly told me that she had a 5 pm reservation. Considering that it was now already 5:30 and I wasn't even checked in yet because I couldn't see the reservation lady about 3 hours ahead of me...I left discouraged only to find that husband had the best parking spot ever found at the Mandarin. So I said, "Husband, let's find another pop stand, I'll phone the Mandarin to cancel our reservation for 5 at 5:30. Sure some other starving party of 5 or 4 or whatever will thank us for cancelling, only to find out that their line was busy. Quick note to self. Don't ever go back on a special day.
It doesn't matter if you have a reservation, they only make you wait anyways. Making reservations there give one a sense of false security. Duh
(Should have taken the turkey out of the freezer and stayed home)
Ended up for a tastey meal at Swiss Chalet. I am so stuffed with all of todays tastey delights I can't move. lol

Happy Birthday to Tracey

April 13th and it's Tracey's birthday today.

She is my youngest sister in law on my husbands side.

Wishing you lot's of love, joy, hope, health, and prosperity as you enjoy your special day and the start of a new year.

Love, Cathy and Bill

What a Gggggggreat Day!

It's late on Wednesday night actually Thursday morning and I just have to write my thougth's down about today. Another great afternoon with the sister in laws. I really look forward to Wednesday afternoon's. That's the day we get together to show off our crafts, develop ideas, work on our knitting (or other project), chew the fat, drink tea and coffee, and cobble up tasty treats put out by our gracious hostess.

What a lucky girl I am to be in such wonderful company. My sister in laws are crafty sisters for sure. They know how to quilt, sew, knit, crochet, paint, decorate, design, create...you name it one of them is surely a pro at it.

Saturday I started Kayleigh's poncho set. Today while the crafty sisters got together I finished off the last wrist warmer. You are probably wondering doesn't she do anything else. Well yes she does, except I'm on a poncho roll at the moment. I'm having so much fun designing, picking out wools and trim yarns, playing with combinations of knitting and crochet stitches, the sky is the limit.

Kayleigh is Bill's grand daughter, the youngest daughter of Michelle. According to the aunt's (my crafy sister's) Kayleigh is the spitting image of a young Michelle. A beautiful head of hair and eyes that sparkle with a child's delight. I can hardly wait to give her the pink set. (As seen above) I'll have to take a picture of the little girls in their poncho sets. They are all supposedly coming for dinner this Easter Sunday I'll have to make sure that they wear or at least bring their poncho's. Perhaps a nice group picture will be taken.

After a busy day of knitting and crocheting, discussing world events, and sipping tea, it was 5 o'clock. We were still at it. Time sure fly's when you are having fun. Oh Sandra, Bill loved his deviled eggs. Thanks, they were down the hatch before I even got to the kitchen. You see poor guy didn't think of looking in the fridge for the corning ware dish with tonight's dinner in it. So poor baby was starving. The egg's hit the spot. lol He's lucky we only get together on Wednesday's. Imagine if we were fanatical about our diverse art forms...he' probably loose a few pounds. lol

Only have a few project's on the go now. Mawglitterbag's powder blue poncho, and my rainbow poncho with ribbon detail. Deadline for Mom's will be Mother's Day and mine will be when ever the ribbon's are carefully woven through. I need peace and quiet for that little job. So I guess I'll have to do that after everyone has turned in and the cat's are asleep. I think they are all asleep, will it be another 5 a.m. night?

Miss Tiffy Checks the Flyers

Earlier today Miss Tiffy decided to check out the deals at the local stores. She is quite the nosey kitty. She knows a good deal when she see's it. Recently she encourged her daddy to check out the prices too. So when the Friday night paper arrives the two of them race to the kitchen table and start the flyers. I ask her to keep an eye out for the Michael's Craft Store flyer. I like to see if I can find a new and interesting yarn for one of my many crafts...

As above the bright blue with rainbow coloured ribbons is a new project that promises to be delightful. Also finished Toria's Salsa hat with flower and matching scarf. They are done in Paton's Cha Cha in Salsa with a cream coloured 4ply to make soft cuddly garments for a little girl.

Also Happy Birthday to David, Bill's little boy is 37 today. Have a terrific day, we hope you are able to come out for Easter dinner.

Spring is here!
Fore, look out for Bill, Pete and their buddies as they start the golf season for real. During the winter months these poor guys have to go to an indoor golf establishment. Well today April 9th it was bright, sunny and still cold actually went out and swug their clubs. I didn't hear any bragging though when he finally made it home mid afternoon. There was no complaining either. Isn't it nice for them to be able to chase a little dimpled ball around on a soppy lawn, soaking your feet and freezing your butt's off.

Dust off the Weigh Scale

Another late night, whew, how can I keep it up?

I'm running on banana cake, with chocolate icing.

Why do I bother to eat it? Have been avoiding to get the Bathroom weigh scale out.
Never in my life have I felt so stuffed. Like a sausage. I can feel fat. Some jeans don't fit. If you are wondering why I don't show up in jeans ... they don't fit, they ride up my butt, can't close the button, broke a nail zipping it up.

Time to make some changes. Walk to the mail box to pick up the bills. Come home depressed, (no cheques in the mail for me) eat a celery stick. Run up the stairs! Dust off the bike and go riding on nice days. Borrow the neighbours dog to take for a walk.

The big job tomorrow is to get that sucker out, dust it off, get on the platform with both feet, make sure the glasses are on, and read the results. If it's more than 15 pounds, will have to find recipes with fewer calories or
less tasty ingredients! And I thought that all that knitting was building up my arms, laugh....not likely blondie! It's the CAKE!!!!!

Now that that subject has been stretched way out of perspective, I'll fill you in on my latest project.

a) bright blue poncho with the rainbow effect and ribbon detail is coming along nicely. Two body panels finished, all it needs is the ribbon detailing sewn in place to ensure that it stays where it's supposed to be then crotchet it together so that it has two points. Considering a pocket!

b)Mawglitterbag's powder blue garment has been started with half of the back panel finished. Having fun designing it. Will she be surprised? I think so. She will be a vision in pale blue at sunnycrest. She'll love it.

Our little friend Chris came over tonight and was looking at the colourful yarn I was using for the bright blue poncho. He has placed an order for wrist warmers in the multi colour yarn... he loves his grey ones. Wears them often. As he left he informed me that he would be baking tomorrow. So there should be a zuchinni bread arriving tomorrow. Oh my what am I to do. I know, keep my mouth shut, inhale the lovely aroma and freeze that bread to be served at our next "stitch n bitch." Film at eleven!

Till next time, love, light and hope.

Another Late Night

Well I just went to get stuff out of the dryer and thought, better check my e-mails.
Three hours later I'm still at it.

It's already Friday morning. Where does the time go?
Does time fly for YOU?

Received a lovely letter from my cousin in the Netherlands today. I love getting letters from Mia. When I went to Holland I had such a nice time with her. She was here a couple of times. Hopefully she will visit again.

I baked today. Made banana cake with chocolate icing. I may have to join WW soon. Either that or stop eating pralines and cream ice cream.

Started Mom's powder blue poncho yesterday. Aiming for Easter to have it done. Will probably do some ribbon detailing on it. Tried it on another poncho I'm working on and it's actually looking good.

I had better hit the hay or I'll never get up in the morning.
Till next time, love, light and hope. Pete popped in on his way to his little girls birthday party which was held the same day. Above is another design for a young girls poncho. Lauren received her's yesterday, she tried it on right away. It is truly her according to Mom Ann!

They are coming over for Easter so if the weather is nice perhaps the girls will all wear their new poncho's. I think she was right in her glory, and why not...80 is a big something to celebrate. It's nice that we can all get together and celebrate the milestones in each of our lives. It gives us all a chance to get together, share our stories, hopes and dreams.

We have a chance to see the new little ones in our family, and my they are awesome children. Aren't we lucky!

As we go through the journey of life, we start to appreciate how precious life is, how short our time on the planet is, and how much we really like each other, and love to be together. We sometimes see ourselves in our siblings and our other family members.

The festivities continued for me when I left Mom's 80 to go to Kelsi's 3rd! A rockin' time was had by all. It seemed like I was eating all day long. One lovely meal after the other, topped with birthday cake everywhere!

Thank God for a nights sleep after partying all day Saturday...need to get ready for another day of eating and cake. lol

After a lovely drive towards Waterdown, thought I would save a few bucks by not taking the 407. Well I did it again, hit the 401, when I got to the west end of the city thought I had better keep my eye out for the QEW. So I maneuvered my way to the 427 south saw Dundas Street 5 and thought hey that 's my road, got off except it didn't look right. Kept on going and decided that I needed Dundas Street further west. Finally hit the QEW. And I drove and drove, well when I hit the Guelph Line the names seemed familiar but the road didn't.

So like a lost puppy I stopped and asked for directions to Dundas Street and Waterdown. Fortunately, the guy at Tim Horton's Esso lived in Waterdown and told me I wasn't lost at all, just taking a better route, ha ha ha, after a 5 minute drive north on Guelph line and a few traffic lights I hit Dundas Street, and you guessed it, it took me right to Waterdown. Duh Dundas doesn't go to the QEW, it goes to the 403, and I should have remembered that.

The above story reminds me of driving to New York with Dad when I was a teenager a few years ago. We're driving along the Hudson River approaching New York City when Dad see's a sign for the George Washington Bridge. I was always the map reader/navigator and quietly said to Dad, we don't need to take the George Washington Bridge. He insisted and we did...we ended up in New Jersey...then 50 miles later we were heading back towards NY city. Ah haw, the good old days for sure. The only difference between us is - I stop for directions, lol

Spent a wonderful afternoon with Kurt and his family. The girls loved their ponchos. We had dinner, and more cake in the shape of a Dalmatian. Yummy with Turtles ice cream. We played a few games of Rummy.

With the start of daylight savings time, I had the chance to drive home (the scary lost part) in daylight.

Now the next event is Easter. The gang will be over for dinner this Easter. It seems like all the kids love ham, so I guess ham and scalloped potatoes will be on the menu.

Tiffy's Helping

Well it's a couple of days before the birthday are here, whew I'm going at about 120 km an hour trying to get all my projects done. Her daddy Bill thought she looked so cute so he took a picture of the sleepy Miss Tiffy wrapped up in a new poncho design that mom is making for Lauren her other granddaughter from Waterdown.

The poncho that's currently in the works for Lauren is a different design. I have so much fun trying out different looks, and making them to suit the recipient's personality. I was telling Bill's mom about this new one and she put in her order for a powder blue one.

At first she said she didn't really want one, but after thinking about it, and knowing how beautiful they are, and that she would be the only one at Sunnycrest to have one, she now would like one. I told her that I'd design a nice one just for her but that unfortunately I wouldn't have it done for her birthday. Easter perhaps?

Birthday Week

This is an exciting week! That's Robyn, Kurt and Ann's daugher in the blue fluffy hat and Kelsi Peter and Tammy's daughter dressed up as a ballerina at her sister's birthday in February.

Here's the birthday roster for this week!

First of all it is my mother-in-laws birthday this coming Saturday. That is no April fool's day joke.
Our Vi will be 80 years young. But don't tell anyone, we wouldn't want to make a fuss about that day. lol

Well she doesn't know it but there will be a fuss made this year! Who can live to the age of 80 and not have a special moment made out of it. She deserves a celebration to mark this special occassion. We will celebrate, eat a little chicken, drink a little pretend wine, talk about the good old days, raise a toast to a fabulous lady who still likes to look pretty, wear big earrings that accent her colour co-ordinated outfit.
I guarantee a great time will be had by all. Looking forward to Saturday!!!

Then later in the afternoon on the 1st we'll also celebrate Kelsi's third birthday. Her birthday is actually on the 2nd of April but this year her party will be on the 1st. Kelsi hopefully will be better by Saturday so that she can enjoy her party and grandma's as well.

April 2nd is also Robyn's birthday. Yes I have two grand daughters who share the same birthay. Robyn is my first granddaughter. She will be eleven this year.
I still remember the day she arrived. I remember driving home from Markham wondering what this little bundle of joy would look like, what would she enjoy doing. There were so many questions and thoughts on that April 2nd 1985. What a beautiful, creative girl she had grown into. Oma is going to be busy this weekend!
Looking forward to your party too Robyn on Sunday.

We am so blessed to have such sweet grandchildren in my life. There are eleven all together.

I think about these beautiful children ~ they make me happy.

Something Technical?

For someone who used to be able to do technical things, what has happened to you girl?

I believe that I have become a little domesticated. I spoke to her son tonight to see how she was doing, and she is doing well.

It is imperative that women have regular checkups! Fortunately JCdy has always been very proactive with her health care. It was only due to the fact that she was getting her bus license that she had to have an in between check that they found some annomaties with a test that she had. Thank God for wanting to get a bus license, it has probably saved her life.

It is amazing how things happen for a reason. Who ever reads this...remember to follow your gut instincts, your inner child. Quite often this 'little girl/boy' is telling you what it is you need to do. This inner child is there to protect you, nurture you and keep you safe.

I had to go out early this morning and pay some bills. It was a bright sunny day, Monday, March 27 a beautiful spring day. I checked the temp gauge on the window sill and ...hey I believe the poncho is about to make it's inaugral appearance.
I am so pleased with how it felt. It was nice and warm and also very comfortable. I think I'll get a lot of wear out of this cozy garment.

swan-artegan: Savouring This Work In Progress

swan-artegan: Savouring This Work In Progress

Great Week

Wow, I've had a great week.
Nothing but knitting, crochetting lol whipping it together into gorgeous little garments. The little girls in my life are going to be quite surprised what their ol' oma has created. They love to play dress up, and wear pretty things....and there are also some new necklaces in their favorite stones and crystals coming their way.

Wednesday afternoon the 'sista-in-laws' got together for 'stitch en bitz' drank a little tea, ate a little cake sans calories I must say. What a lovely time we had. Hopefully Brenda sista will be feeling better for the next one at Wannaknit's house. It's amazing what a few crafty women with a bag full of wool and needles can craft together when they put their mind to it.

I finished the purple and orange poncho for the Oma on Wednesday night. Made the wrist warmers in a plain orange to go with it. I can hardly wait to wear this colourful and bold poncho. We had four children in attendance ... two of them are my granddaughters Haylee and Kelsi.

When Tammy started to open the gifts I had made her I realized I had forgot to take pictures of them. One of them was a tube scarf of many colours that that you can pull up over your head if the weather gets cold. Hopefully she will have to put the scarf into a closet for the time being and wait for winter next year.
The other gift hit was a gold and crystal bracelet with the family birthstones set into a unique setting. When Haylee say the sparkler on her Mom's wrist, she asked, "Oma, can I have one like that?" So I had better get get on the ball, get out of the kitchen, and start bending some wire and match up some sparkly stones for the wee one.

Busy Birthday Week

Creative Catrinka and Things

It's been a while since I wrote anything. The reason is I've been busy knitting.
We have had 2 birthdays this week, my son and daughter in law both had their birthday on the weekend. So I was busy preparing gifts, food and cakes a little dinner party.
A wonderful time was had at a number of get-to-gethers to mark their special day on the 11th and the 13th of March.

It is the march break and the grandchildren are out of school. They are having a lovely holiday.

I still need to take some pictures to put into the blog site. I've had so much fun making capes, boot cuffs, scarves, beading hats and just having a wonderful time with balls of wool. Taking a little break this week and finishing a purple and orange (is it bright enough) poncho for myself. Just deciding should I also put a point at the back of the garment pointing out my growing butt?

Over the past week have made a few batches of french bread. Oh my God what a tasty treat that was. Have no idea how many calories in those small loaves of bread, all I know is that the I didn't add any calories to the dough mixture. I've also been creative in the cake department. First a cherry birthday cake for Pete and yesterday a chocolate (can we please have whip creme icing with skor bars, yes we can) cake for Bill. The fact that I'm being so creative in the kitchen is disturbing. Although eating is fun. lol You'll have to come for coffee so that Billy doesn't eat all the cake.
Wishing you all a happy week. And happy knitting and crafting to you all.

Good Party Fun for all!

Hi everyone, it's the day after the big party and everyone is recovering. A fun time was had by all. The food was great, the company was terrific and my grand daughter was so pleased with all her gifts.

I felt especially proud of my handiwork! The birthday girl loved her poncho, hat ant wrist warmers. I had knit them in a soft black knubby with hot pink fun fur accents.. The poncho was an original creation that was a combination of kniting and crochetting. Lot's of fun.

While I was at it, also made a pair of purple heather wrist warmers with jet black beads and crystals as well. Isn't it fun to be creative. I also find it very theraputic for my sore bones and joints. It is good exercise to keep the fingers limber and the mind sharp.

Well I just tried to download the picture and the same thing happened. So I deleted the picture it had a dark background with a tiny little picture in the upper left corner. Help anyone....duh don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Wow...I'm on a roll!

I've had a fun day, knitting stop for lunch, knitting, stop for dinner, watch American Idol, stop crochet the thing together. Stop, wow it's done, get the darn camera, take a picture run to the computer and download that pic.
Still don't know if it turned out....

My granddaughter will be 8 years old on Saturday and I had gone shopping yesterday to find her something girly to wear. She is going to be a rock star after all. Well didn't I find her the cutest black peddle pushers and some rock style type tops to go with it. Then I got to thinking....those studio's get aweful cold, so Oma better get at it and make a cuddly poncho to go with the peddle pushers.

Oh well I had a good time playing with it. I'll have to figure out some of the technical things. Can it be all that difficult?
See you tomorrow, in the mean time, be kind and gentle with yourself.

My First Blog

This is my first blog and I'm excited to get started.
I was encouraged by my sister in law to start blogging, lol. so here goes....

I'm a creative soul...I love to day dream about so many things. When I think about things it starts my creative juices flowing and before I know it I have something in my hands either wire and crystals, or wool and knitting needles, or a water colour brush. This creative side of me makes me happy and content.

It also fuels my spiritual side. Then I feel like singing. Before I know it I'm playing a tune on the piano, humming a song and thinking about getting out the old accordion and guitar.

I often wonder how I can get everything done that I want to do. There is so much to do and only so much time. As I get older~the time just flys!

I just got back from a lovely little get away. Went to see my oldest son and family. Their little son was having his 5th birthday. It was a great time, a wonderful visit, great birthday dinner, yummy birthday cake, and the opening of gifts. We played cards, fish and then "speed" wow those girls are fast. I had such a good time that I didn't realize how late it was getting until my cell phone rang. It's amazing how time flys when your having fun!

I then went to visit dear friends and spent a few day with them. I always take some knitting and other hobbies with me when I travel. So while I was away I had the chance to knit up a lovely shawl/scarf that also turns into a charming hood in peacock for a friend who needs to be kept warm in the cold morning.

Well this is my first attemp in the blog format, so far so good. (I think)
